Telco M1 has joined SingTel and StarHub in raising the rates for excess mobile data use, in the latest demonstration that data is king.

M1 customers will have to pay twice as much if they use more than what their data bundle allows. According to its website, the new rate of $10.70 for each gigabyte (GB), capped at $188.32 a month, will kick in from January.

Currently, it charges $5.35 per GB, capped at $94.16 per month.

SingTel was the first to end its promotional excess data rates in September. Since then, its customers have been paying twice as much for exceeding their data bundle - at $10.70 per GB, capped at $188.32 a month.

All these 3 telcos knew that very well and that's why they start making more $$$ out of the data charges.
With only 2G of data quota, you will be easily exhausted in no time and will need to pay more.

Beware if u use prepaid sims you can sign up for a data plan usually like 1Gb for $7 but they won't warn u when the data is running out so once the data is used up all the credit is used up your number till it reaches 0

i rmemeber starhub still charge me by the kilobyte if excess data for 3G on prepaid card leh. excess a few megabyte like that, they already charge $8 from my prepaid cardthat almost ONE MILLION times more expense than $10.70 for each gigabyte loh!
