President Lai said he would "stand on the front line" to defend Taiwan in a speech on Thursday afternoon, without directly referring to the ongoing drills.

China has repeatedly branded Lai a "dangerous separatist" who would bring "war and decline" to the island.

Beijing was further incensed with his inauguration speech on Monday, in which he hailed a "glorious" era for Taiwan's democracy.

Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin on Thursday delivered a warning that included language more commonly used by China's propaganda outlets.

You would sing a different tune if there were a heavily armed and overtly hostile enemy nation at your doorstep, which is also infiltrating and corrupting your politics and media.

Despite all the talk China is wary of actually using its military and having all its hardware crushed like Iraqi or Russian tanks.

It's all about the TSMC. Otherwise, eventually the only phones coming out of Tiongland are these:

Peace Carvin IV

On July 21st, 2000, Singapore revealed that it was up to ordering another 20 F-16s. At first it was not clear whether it would be a mix of C-models and D-models, but eventually the Singapore government decided to make it an all D-model lot. Just like the D-models from the Peace Carvin III aircraft, these will be equipped with the extended spine to accommodate an extensive ECM-suite. Deliveries of the aircraft will commence at the end of 2003. The aircraft are of the Block 52 variant, powered by the Pratt&Whitney F100-229 engine. All aircraft were received before the end of 2004.

Modifications & Armament

Dorsal Fairing

The 10 F-16D Block 52 aircraft ordered in 1994 have the same dorsal fairing as the Israeli IF-16D and the sole VISTA aircraft. It is rumored to house the SPS-3000 EW suite. The dorsal spine were installed during regular routine assembly while these aircraft were on the production line in Fort Worth.

Armament and Helmet Mounted Sight

It is rumored that the Israeli's have provided the RSAF with a first batch of short-range IR-guided Python 4 missiles. Recent pictures have shown the RSAF vipers flying with the DASH-3 HMS integration sensors attached to the canopy. DASH-3 (or any other HMDS) is essential to exploit the full potential of the Python 4, however the presence of the DASH-3 sensors does not confirm the availability of Python 4 missiles. Python4 can be fired without the HMDS and DASH can be employed to slave quite a number of other sensors (FCR, TGP, etc.) to the pilot's sight.

Singapore has acquired the AGM-84 Harpoon anti-ship missile for use on its F-16 and Fokker 50 aircraft.

In view of neighboring Malaysia upgrading its MiG-29s allowing integration of the Vympel R-77 AR-homing AAM, Singapore acquired about 100 AIM-120 missiles. Previous requests for the AIM-120 by Singapore and other countries in the region were turned down by the US government until a similar system was introduced in the region. It is understood that the AIM-120 misseles are stocked in the US, and will only be shipped to Singapore when the state is threatened. The latest reports confirm these AMRAAM missiles being in-country.

SINGAPORE: Up to a dozen F-15SG fighter jets from the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) could be stationed at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam, which is set to be the fourth RSAF detachment on US soil and the closest one to Singapore.

More details of the fighter training detachment were revealed in a press release issued on Dec 13 by the US Department of the Air Force, which has proposed the bedding down of up to 12 RSAF fighter aircraft and associated mission support at Andersen Air Force Base.

SINGAPORE: The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) will take part in a training exercise with United States F-35As, fighter jets that Singapore announced this week it was acquiring.

On Wednesday (Feb 28), Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen said Singapore will buy eight F-35A jets, adding to an existing order of the plane's "B" variant. This will bring the RSAF's F-35 eventual fleet size to 20.

"The training will be conducted in the southern reaches of the South China Sea, within international airspace," said Singapore's Defence Ministry (MINDEF) on Friday.

Eight United States Pacific Air Forces (PACAF) F-35A fighter jets will be in Singapore from Mar 1 to Mar 7 for a stopover before heading to Korat, Thailand, where they will take part in Exercise Cope Tiger 2024, alongside the air forces of Singapore and Thailand.

"During the stopover, the F-35As will conduct Dissimilar Air Combat Training (DACT) with the RSAF’s F-15SG aircraft," said MINDEF, using the term for training exercises between two different types of aircraft.

The exercise will also involve air-to-air refuelling drills with the RSAF's A330 Multi Role Tanker Transport.

MINDEF said the training was a "valuable opportunity" for RSAF personnel to train alongside F-35A aircrew and ground crew, and to "learn from other experienced F-35 operators to support our own F-35 acquisition and operationalisation journey".
The F-35 will form part of Singapore's "next generation" defence force. Four F-35Bs are due to be delivered by 2026, with another eight due by 2028. The recently announced eight F-35As are expected to be delivered around 2030.
The plane, made by US defence firm Lockheed Martin, is a fifth-generation stealth fighter jet. The "A" variant has a greater payload than its "B" cousin, which has the ability to take off from short distances and land vertically.
