lunchtime 45min, enough?

The standard lunch break in NZ is 30 minutes.

And the jack asses there work for 4 days a week!

They should not even have 30 mins lunch at all.

They should be eating and working thru the 4 days! LOL

Depending on where one's workplace is ... my friend used to work in a government school and he makan at the school canteen. Half hour lunch more than enough time. Somemore cheap, economical rice at no more than $2. He is staying walking distance from the school so every month he is able to save $200 on transport and meal.

Except for those on 12 hour rotating shifts, the rest work 5 days a week. There is no 13th month bonus.

But their standard of living there is dirt cheap.

And it's a WELFARE state!

I bet alot of them even feels the state need to provide lunch for them!

For the amount of money I need to feed and keep my pets in S$, 2 whole freaking white skins familiee can live on it!LOL

I used to have 1hr 30mins for lunch, but I tahpow almost everyday, quickly eat and then can catch some sleep for an hour.

poor thing! how kan cheong my pal was queueing for his lunch and then hurriedly gorging away like hungry ghost from 7th month..

there was hardly time for a casual conversation as he mumbled gibberishly through his mouthful of food. one thing i heard clearly was he said that he had only 45 mins for lunch and had to be back to his desk in DBSbank.

how could DBSbank be a service orientated bank when they treat their staff in such stingy manner?

The bank have 3 break. So if 3 hr it will drag for 3 hour. Will cause delay in service. If not happy resign because when join the company HR already told them. Not happy dont accept the job.

i ever kana 30min lunch break hor...........lucky the coffee shop is across the road only...........later kana digestion problems so had to quit......

To be honest, Monday's is usually a day, in which , "everything that goes wrong, will go wrong day"...Friday is a run to the 'finish line' day, since Saturday is not a working day...& the rest of the week is a between Mon & Fri...I usually do not have time to eat lunch...so 40 minutes is a waste of productivity..

If you have time to go out and have a 40 mins lunch...your position in the company is of a little importance...for your absence will never be missed...

Well weather I go for lunch or not I still cannot get anything done except maybe paperwork as we work in teams and if caught working alone with no lookout man and safety officer on standby I will kana a warning letter. Even if the whole team wants to work also cannot because once the bell sounds power off unless special request and you better have a very good reason for that :)
For us we work on a 2 week cycle usually the 1st 2 days is prep up and dismounting and the last 2 days are testing and adjustments by mid cycle its the time to know we make or break the dateline

No most Kiwis make their lunch at home and take it to work. They aren't as well off as Singaporeans and are more frugal in their habits.

You must remember that most countries aren't as well run or as wealthy as Singapore as they don't have the benefit of being managed by a capable government like the PAP.

I remember working in places where we have to bring our own lunch too. Way back in the early 80s was posted to this God forsaken place call Tuas West end to work. The nearest coffee shop was 20mins drive away at boonlay. We always have extra crackers and jam in our lockers just incase we have to do OT :p If you miss the 10.30pm SBS bus you stay overnite at the company or you call your own taxi and good luck if you can find 1 to come to get you.

thats why kiwis so stooooopid. learn from the prcs, they take 1 hour lunch and another hour nap. and they are screwing everyone else.

Usually I just need 30 mins for lunch. The other 30mins is for me to release yesterdays dinner and morning breakfast.

In Australia, the lunch break is 30 mins. This is for the Angmo.....

There is general difference in culture. When I was working in Canada, we'd bring our dinner leftovers from the previous night to work and microwave them for lunch at office. Once I worked outdoor sales there and ate MacDonald's/Subway takeaway in parking lots. Now back in Sg, we drive in one or two cars (depending on number of colleaques) to nearby hawker centres for lunch. Am thinking of packing my own sandwich lunch to cut down on salt; outside food is not healthy, worse if eaten everyday.

Cheers!

If eat out in downtown area, not enough or barely enough. If eat out in outside downtown area, maybe enough.

Thank you for politicizing this thread.

30 minutes is enough for me. (but my lunch break is 1 hour; can still go Boat Quay 7-11 and buy a beer to drink near the river.)

This is about 15 years ago when I work in SIMEX UOB plaza and eat at Golden Shoe Hawker Centre.

lunchtime is only a brief time for one to relax a bit. that's the rights of every workers. i give my staff flexible time as long as they get their job done in time, they can eat as long as they want.

Why do you want? food delivered to office, employer maintain a canteen, provide subsidize food? or locate eating place next to office? 45 minute is more than enough...if you know the area around where you work...you should have worked out a lunch time, eat & run strategy...

I had my plan out for years I work...many time I worked through lunch time..& get people to pack for me lunch or I run down to the nearest, for me those days was either Delifrance for an Apple Turnover & Hans for Chocolate Eclairs or a shop selling food...the lady will pack the same food for $4.50...just take, dash back to office...& have my lunch there...45 mins is enough...even have time to take 40 winks in the conference room....or in the storeroom...ha ha ha

45 minutes...plan your time..

how could DBS be the best service-orientated bank when they treat their own staff like dirt by rushing them on their well-deserved lunchbreak?
