I have been following the incident of the MRT breakdown from Cambodia. I am especially concerned over the well-being of the people who were reported to be trapped in the trains for an extended period of time before they made their way to safety.

There have been a number of train disruptions in recent days. I do not know if these are isolated incidents or whether there are systemic and more serious underlying issues causing these breakdowns. We will therefore conduct a thorough health check on our train systems, determine how the faults happened and also whether the maintenance, communication and recovery processes were adhered to and can be further improved.

I have asked LTA to assemble a team of relevant experts, including possibly relevant overseas experts to help us in this review.

someone ought to be hung by the balls :eek::eek:

The commuters are hung by their balls, that is for sure, remind me of a joke I read long time ago:

"this is your captain speaking, if you look at the left side of the plane , the engines are burning, you look down on the right side of the plane, down below, where a boat is, don't worry, I am going to get HELP"

This is what Fark U is saying from Cambodia!! :D

he so free to post on FB...shld have immediately catch next available flight home.

overseas expert..CCB...we have our MRT for fucking 20 over years, we don't have / have not cultivated talent to look at this problem? Where did the fucking cabling system come from? Another one in 50 years affair.

still have the fucking cheek to ask for fare increase...increase liao service deteriorated...

That's right. Many people ought to be hung by their appendages. the system is overloaded and infrastructure cracking because this city was not designed for so many people. lack of planning coupled with incompetence lead to system wide failures. no different from whats happening in china, except maybe china is on even larger scale with train derailings, etc.

When will there be someone who will organise a class action against the MRT or even LTA for such a debacle? If another breakdown occurs, I think it is a clarion call for Singaporeans to sue them.

Just like temasick, the foreign fund managers are their shield, anything goes wrong......... blame the foreign experts, if bo tai chee, they masterbate and pay themselves fat fat.:)

Don't think there's provision in law for such suit. Also think there's legal disclaimer somewhere saying they're not responsible legally if there's breakdown. Not sure -- any forummers know?

I do not know this too but when there is negligence on their part and citizens suffer, I doubt they are untouchable. I recall this Thai teenage sued them for loss of her limbs.

You can sue MRT but the compensation will be a fraction of the legal costs. Compensation will usually be equivalent to cost of next alternative transport means taken plus inconvenience costs. People have sued airlines where it might be worth it.

That is why the people have to vote with their conscience, before a major disaster happens, where lives are lost & your love ones were there. Think & start assessing now! We are paying way too much & getting sub par performance.

Perhaps there is not much they can do in short run becoz of operational and logistical constraints. There is however a really fast and easy PR fix by pinning all the blame on the existing CEO and showing her the door. That will do a lot to make Lui popular. If Lui doesn't do anything to fix his image, he is headed the way of Raymond Lim.

the door has always been there, Saw can choose to walk out of it or not.

If Lui thinks the current outrage at his impotence is bad, wait till bonuses are announced and the public learns that CEO Saw is again taking home millions.
