Lui: Gov't accepts share of blame for December breakdowns

Since they are paid according to performance and performance is lacking as we can see, shouldn't we demand that they repay what ever bonuses they received.

They are never paid on performance. If this was the case, no more than a handful would have taken on the portfolio they were given because less than a handful have any educational or worklife experience in the portfolio they have been tasked to oversee. It's all a sham. If the PAPzi government was a corporate entity, they would have been voted out of the board a long time ago. The bitch of it all is that they form a government, a fascist government that controls the mainstream media, unions, economy, schools, PA and the president.

Can anyone recommend me a music company to make it into a song.
It will be sung to the tune of
Oh my darling'
Oh my darling
Oh my darling Clementine

"It was an honest mistake,
It was an honest mistake
It was an HONEST Mistake.
My Dear Folks

So, My Dear Countrymen and Ladies
Let us all Move On From Here.
The road ahead is long
The road ahead is tough.

Let us move on From Here
And We Will Continue to lead you.

It was honest mistake

You thank our lucky stars, they don't demand we pay more to improve on their mistakes. Shouldn't the opposition propose a salary cut for the Transport minister? salary freeze for two years for the government bodies he oversee & cut the bonuses of those who were incompetent??

compensation?
free transport for citizens for a year???? lOL

Complacency or lousy maintenance... The best way to remind transport companies and regulators to continue working hard is to make them remeber the mistakes...

Can gahment fix 15 of December as the Free transport day marking the anniversary of the major break down?

Please lah Stef

Even a PTE is a respectable rank within the Army.

Some are even more intelligent then their GAYNERALS.

How can you demote him to that rank.

He should be given a DISHONOURABLE DISCHARGE

So what rank can we demote him to?

Vote him out? He will be a grassroots adviser

What can we do?

Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew has admitted that the Ministry of Transport and the Land Transport Authority (LTA) have fallen short in their responsibilities to keep train operator SMRT in check.

Addressing the recent Committee of Inquiry (COI) findings in Parliament on Tuesday, Lui said the two do share part of the blame in the twin MRT disruptions in December last year that affected more than 200,000 commuters.

He said that it is the responsibility of the ministry to ensure that the LTA does what it is supposed to do -- which is in turn to ensure that the public transport operators (PTOs) deliver standards expected of them.

It's all a smoke screen, something which the PAP is pretty good at. Lui's admission of guilt for MOT and LTA is to deflect the focus away from the real culprit, who is none other than the one who set the direction for SMRT to shift its focus away from rail operations to retail business instead and appointing Saw PH as the CEO. The whole exercise right from the COI to Parliament proceedings did not single out the one most guilty of the MRT incidents. As with the Temasek's investment failures during the financial crisis, she has gotten away scot free again. Everyone else has taken the rap except her.
