Serious Low SES Sinkie tried shaking hand with high SES Elite!

I have seen certain PAP MPs (not naming who), attending a HDB void deck funeral wake while being escorted and guided by a large group of assistants. Are they afraid of getting lost in their own constituency?

Those assistants are RC members aka PLP!

Anyway I don't understand why Gan refuse handshake with him. Just a normal event and you handshake with everyone. Just normal will do.
Gan Siow Huang may have thought the guy in red was a leacher who creeped up among the VIP hosts, who were dressed in shirt and tie, so she avoided shaking his hand, till he persisted.

Gan Siow Huang avoided that man's hand as if she was a Muslim who sidestepped a pork stallholder's outstretched hand at a wet market.
I remember back in the day when a similar incident occurred when a member of the ruling party "refused" a handshake at a local wet market. :whistling:

A factor which may have contributed to Seet Ai Mee's defeat in the 1991 GE was an incident when she washed her hands after shaking hands with a fishmonger while campaigning in a market, which drew negative publicity. The incident occurred during the 1988 GE campaign, and was raised by then PM Goh CT at an election rally in 1991. In an attempt to defend Seet, he said that she had a habit of washing her hands regularly and had not done so out of disrespect.

That is why must wash hand properly and put perfume mah …
Many years ago, a technician at the company reached out to shake my hand while I was accompanying my CEO on his rounds around our facility with a foreign guest. I noticed that the technician's hand was greasy as he was in the midst of his work when the entourage entered that part of the building. I accepted his outstretched hand with the only hesitation in my mind. I didn't wash my hand until our group headed to lunch at a nearby restaurant within walking distance. At times, we have to be mindful about how our actions are construed.
