a punjabi or a sikh is considered indian. there are numerous cases of indians who are not either a punjabi or sikh who adopt the surname of "singh". many do it to hide their (lower) caste status. "singh" is a generic name in india, although most sikh believers have it as their surname. not all punjabis are sikh, and not all punjabis are "singh's". although amost all singhs less the mute can sing, no matter how terrible they sound.
