Political Instinct and Judgment
From the way PAP Ministers and PM handle this Wuhan Corona virus, it is obvious that they are really just technocrats and poor politicians.
They could just conclude this Wuhan Virus is less lethal than SARS by looking at figures given by Chinese government which is known to lack integrity and credibility when it comes to reporting statistics that will make them look bad.
In such context, we should not just rely on what figures they gave but rather what they were doing.
Would any government with a population of over 1.3 billion locked down several cities within a few days if the fatality of this virus is not as serious as SARS?
We don't just look at what CCP says but also what they are doing to make accurate assessment and judgement of the situation.
They must have known SOMETHING MORE SERIOUS that we don't know when they decisively locked down quite a number of cities at one go!
This is definitely not due to a few hundred or a couple of thousands infections with less than 100 dead. It must be something MORE SERIOUS and SINISTER than such "peanut figures" as compared to a 1.3 billion population!
They must have know the nature of this virus before making such quick and decisive measures.
It is either the figures of death and infections are exceptional high in reality or that they already know how horrible and terrible this virus is because they have been researching on it prior to the breakout!
The unbelievable naivety our PAP Ministers shown in believing this virus is of smaller threat than SARS is rather glaring.
First of all, many blame the uncontrollable situation is due to the attempt of suppressing information by local provincial officials. However, none of the high level provincial officials have been sacked or removed by CCP.
In fact the head of the Province has indicated that he has to get permission to release information and that is why there was a delay on official announcement.
What does that tell us?
Yet, our PAP Ministers are extremely slow to react to such emergency and global crisis. Macau was the first to react fast, canceling all major CNY celebration event and basically closed their borders with China. Philippines basically repatriate those people from China. Even HK and Malaysia have decided to ban all travellers from Wuhan to pass through their borders.
In fact, the most interesting part is, even China authorities have banned outward bound tour groups!
Yet, PAP Ministers are like little kids just awaken from their slumber! They are not making decisive decisions to enforce quarantine orders on all inbound persons from China and still want to continue the Chingay procession and River Hong Bao event which will let huge number of people to congregate and effect a higher chance of infections!
Asking people who had traveled to China just to stay at home is just not good enough. Quarantine orders must be handed out with close monitoring of home quarantine for these travellers.
All big celebration events should be canceled. We can have such celebrations every year but we have only one life each.
PAP will have to take FULL responsibility for any communal outbreak of Wuhan Virus because of their gross incompetency and complacency.
I would urge all Singaporeans to avoid attending these two events at all cost. Your lives are more important than such event.
