Lorry driver charged with causing death of pedestrian\

By Elena ChongA lorry driver allegedly caused his vehicle to mount a road kerb and hit a zebra crossing light pole, which then fell on to a pedestrian and caused her death.
Chiong Sing Loong, 45, was charged on Tuesday with causing the death of Madam Chang Yook Sim, 76, along Toa Payoh East on Jan 1, 2011 by failing to keep proper control of his lorry.
Chiong, represented by Mr Zaminder Singh Gill, will return to court on Oct 18.
If convicted, he can be jailed for up to two years or fined or to both.
