Look at what they feed our children during NS - Can eat? Worth $7

Some camps' food is better than others. ;)

Also I think some camps have outsourced to NTUC Foodfare and SATS Catering, so it is not just SFI.

There's a theory that cookhouse food is deliberately crappy, so you'll spend money on canteen food. Win-win. :D

SFI still win becos NTUC n SATS buy meats from SFI..........

Social Media is angry that our soldiers are fed meals like the above.

The Contractor was said to have charged $7 per meal......

The chicken leg alone sells for around $3.50 at the mixed veggie rice stall. It would cost more if you ordered that same amount of meat from a chicken rice stall.

The rice would cost about $0.80, the veggies $0.80, and the two fishballs $0.60.

That already adds up to $5.70.

Fruits are also served during meals. So, inclusive of fruits, the cost of a meal may come up to $6.20. There is also extra cost in the clean up after the meals. SAF soldiers no longer wash their meal trays and utensils after eating.

Fruits are optional, just like ice cream and yoghurt. ;)

The highlight of army cookhouse food is almost always the day when western food is served, typically with rice instead of fries, and some bland whipped potato.

Whatever you eat, you're still a NS slave. You have no freedom. :D

i ate both saf cook run cookhouses to cookhouses operated by ntuc foodfare and sfi. compare to saf cook run cookhouse, that picture by TS still ok lah. But compare to the first year when saf outsource cookhouse in 1998, the ntuc foodfare operate cookhouse at tekong camp III was still the best. maybe because i was perm staff there, there six dishes to choose from. breakfast was american style most of the time, reach cookhouse @ 7am in vest slack after recruits had ate, machiam become like buffet. while recruits like canteen break but most perm staff never go canteen other than for hoongee.

while it ok compare to the shit that was served by saf cooks in the past but it no way cost $7. i believed sfi already sold off by ho jinx to ah tiong few years back to raise funds for him to gamble.

60%: OK lah! Better than coolie rice mixed with soy sauce. *hee*hee*

Fruits are optional for the soldiers, but compulsory for the food company to serve. So, fruits/yoghurt/ice cream and some syrup-water are served during meals. All those costs money and counts towards the $7 per meal bill.

that chicken was source from frozen meat distributor, cost $0.70 each when in bulk. brocoli from china, that cost no more than $0.10. fishball at most $0.20. cooking, labour and transport cost $2 plus another $0.30 for fruits. total cost per meal is at most $$3.30. if sfi charged $7 per for lunch or dinner, that $3.70 profit per meal. 100% margin. rice bucket for the company. i cannot see how saf can save $$ by outsourcing cookhouse. defence contracts confirm "bee thiam" for contractors.
