Today's PLA can crush even India Japan Vietnam very very fast. Can also KO USA, but only had to bear with counter strike price from USA that all.

A tiny minority would want to be terrorist separatists just like what you can find in Xin Jiang. They can stir a bit shit very limited. Wu Jing combat police handles them with just using 2 fingers.

Why must insist to use war to unify Taiwan? It is very crucially important. There is only one such chance to carnage nicely, and once lost this chance (to so called peaceful unification) it is very hard to get the same chance again. Hence strategically speaking, you will get long term headache if you don't take the chance of Unification By War = 武统.

the PLA has not fought a large land war for decades. they have never fought a large air and sea war. 纸上谈兵 and military exercises are different from real war. from what I read, the PLA generals also know this reality and are confident, yet cautious about their fighting capability. even the USA is not confident about fighting a large war nowadays, the USA army is reformed to operate as smaller units to fight against guerrilla warfare for the last 20 years.
