His gold medal sure to rust. I have it on good authority that on the flight home, Indranee borrowed Schooling's gold medal and adjourned to the first class toilet and rubbed it all over her cheebye. Her hai juice will surely corrode the medal. By now, it must be rusting like shit.

They are not fakes.

Just happened that the electro plating evidently is of poor quality. Perhaps, the plating is too thin and did not survive the scratches to expose the base metal to oxidation.

IOC Fact: The gold medal is suppose to be a silver medal (of 925 grade) and coated with at least 6 grams of pure gold. [For Rio maybe somebody cheated ]

Silver medal is made of silver (925 grade)

Bronze medal is an alloy of copper, tin and zinc. Pure copper is too soft and tarnish easily.

[All IOC medals are disc of 60mm diameter and 3 mm thickness]
