Loanshark-related arrests up 88% in 1st half of 2010

THE total number of people arrested for
loansharking and harassment increased by
88 per cent in the first half of 2010, seeing
789 people arrested.

The same period last year saw 419
people arrested.

Police also smashed eight loanshark
syndicates in the first half of 2010,
up from five during the same period of 2009.
