POLICE arrested on Tuesday a 44-year-old man, who is believed to be a debtor-turned-runner who helped loan sharks ensure that debtors were harrassed and to collect debts. He was caught in a coffee shop in Hougang Avenue 10 with several marker pens and a mobile phone believed to contain debtors' records. He will be charged in court today. First-time offenders found guilty of helping an unlicensed moneylender could be fined up to $200,000 and/or jailed for up to two years.
