about the same weight. more snowproof and comfy with timberland in winter. i rely on ridge boots for short summer hikes on dusty trails.Timberland one looks heavier?

early or first snow, especially in yosemite valley. when snow piles up to 3.69 ft, it’s time to hunker down in cabin or wear snow boots. dog will get cold paws very quickly, thus he has paw protector pouches. not a winter dog as he only has one coat of fur. 6.9 minutes of hopping in snow for fun and curiosity but must wrap him up in blanket and bring him indoors quickly. i wear ski pants when i go out hiking in snow. it has to cover ankles to prevent moisture and frost from getting into socks.Wah you go hiking in the snow too?
Early on when we moved to Calgary we tried to go hiking in like early May thinking weather is good.
Ground and trail still all snow! Dogs were jumping in and out of the snow like rabbits. One step into snow ankle to mid shin deep. Wah walk damn slow. (We dont have snowshoes)
We learnt our lesson. After that usually wait till late June or early July then go hiking. After most of snow has melted ground is less muddy also.
Today we wanted to go Pocaterra Cirque. Weather forecast said maybe <1mm rain. Wah go thete pouring. Then had a bit of stop.
We tried. But the 4 year old said too cold and wet want to go home.

So got back in car. Drove back north. Then sky cleared up.
Decided to stop at Mount Lorette Ponds.
Hidden gem I must say. Very scenic. And no need hike. Just short walk from car park.
Used to be part of Kananaskis River. They cut it off when building highway then used ground water to supply it.
