So is it gonna work? If Sr. Lee and Jr. Lee sues in a NY district court against the parent companies who own FEER, will it work? Will the New York district courts toss out the defamation suits because the jury would believe that its of a political nature, and against freedom of speech and expression, printed in a country where freedom from want and from fear, and of speech is allowed?

Its pretty obvious that if both Lees sue in Singapore, they are sure to win, no matter what. But in a foreign court, things are different, and they are now suing an entity and not an individual in a foreign district court with possibly a jury and an independent judge.

And if the courts do toss out the case in New York, like what happened against LKY in Canada against Devan Nair, would it be an embarrassment for the two Lees, and a sense of comeuppance, and a realisation that their political power can only go so far up to the edge of the Causeway?

You may right, but for the greed and powderful, who draw world highest salaries, think their authority is also world powderful and everyone in the international arena should be scared of them. Only dreamer believe they can sue without boundary.

If the Lee family wins, will it sway more votes for PAP?
If they loses, will the PAP lose their grip in the next GE?
In both cases, the only winner is CSJ who will get extra funding.

Where the hell it says the case is going to be heard outside Singapore??

After the humiliation in a Canadian court where despot Lee Kuan Yew tried to sue a newspaper and the former president Devan Nair, the Lees dare not step out of Singapore for any "legal redress"!!

The Lees could only flex their flabby muscles in their corrupt judiciary which is beholden to them.

Oh yes, they have sued. And secondly, I'd admit that personally I thought they might sue in New York. But if they sue in Singapore, it'd be an subtle admission that they cannot win in a court overseas that is not beholden to them.

We will see whether they will win, if its filed in New York. And even if they win in Singapore, I doubt AWSJ and WSJ will pay for damages, as these comments were written and published in countries where there's freedom of speech, expression and from fear and want.

What I'm upset about, and as like you're, is that LKY and son have decided to use the AG, Walter Woon, to file the suit on their behalf, knowing that, its at best a private suit against a media/press company, and not a country against WSJ and its sister publishing magazines.

To use state resources to fund a private suit against another private/public company is just disgraceful. It calls into the question of ethnics and whether Lee and Lee believes that they are so wonderful that they now are bigger than the country, and can use foreign reserves and the AG to fund and front what is considered to be a private suit, and not a national suit.
