Little India riot: Two cans enough to get him tipsy

SINGAPORE - He was a lightweight drinker and two cans of beer were enough to make him tipsy.

But that never stopped Indian national Sakthivel Kumaravelu, 33, from enjoying one or two cans of Haywards 5000 every weekend, said his roommate and colleague, who wanted to be known only as Kumar.

The beer, which costs $3.50, contains 7.5 per cent alcohol.

"He would mostly drink (at the road) outside our dormitory," said the 30-year-old Indian national.

"But he couldn't drink a lot. After two cans maximum, he would become drowsy and return to the dorm to sleep."

Both men arrived in Singapore four months ago from India and slept in the same 12-man dormitory at Jalan Papan, Jurong.

"He was a quiet person and didn't talk much. He would speak only when questioned," said Mr Kumar.

Mr Kumar told The New Paper: "He had a cold and had asked his family in India to send medicine. It was only his second time (visiting) Little India in four months."

He added that Mr Sakthivel, who died on Sunday, had left for Little India on his own.

Mr Kumar did not know what Mr Sakthivel was doing in Little India or how he got drunk.

N after drinking. Drink coconut water or isotonic drink b4 u sleep so dont get hangover. N wake up drink one more coconut or isotonic drink. Recover from dehydratiin n hangover faster.

No lah!....line up the a anehs...get the beer lady dispense to each 1 plastic cup of 100ml beer...that is all!. They will get so desperate for beers & horny...you know what will happen to the beer lady??
