These are the shopping notes I have made over the years.
1. Office shirt
Tailored
No synthetic, only 100% cotton. To make cotton shirts that do not crease, use fabric that has thread count of 140 and more.
Also, if it is a white shirt, use 2-ply cloth which is thicker so that your nipples will not show through the cloth.
Ready-made
One of my favourite is Feraud. They use 2-ply Supima yarn. Supima is American prima cotton. Within budget: about $45 per shirt. I have 5 of them.
2. Pants
Office pants
Always tailored them. Have never bought ready-made. Safe colours are black, blue and grey.
Casual pants
Ever since I bought my first pair of Polo chino pants, I only buy pants of chino material. It is comfortable. Black, blue, white, beige, brown...the colours can change but the material is the same.
3. Shoes
Do not buy Ecco brand of shoes. Bought two pairs and both times the rubber soles crumbled. Looks like the rubber are not treated for tropical use. Cost me $218 and $233.
Geox shoes. Breatheable shoes seems like a good idea. Glue used is not strong (or not strong enough for tropical climate). The shoes come off from the soles at the sides. Stopped buying after two pairs. And they are not cheap: $174 and $294.
After Geox, I had no preference so just went to the sale at Tangs. Bought a brand Obermain from Germany and it was comfortable. $97.
4. Running shoes
Used to buy Nike running shoes, guess its advertising campaign was effective. Bought a pair of Nike Free when it was became a fad about 10 years ago. $102. Also bought Air Max360 $211.
After that, heard good reviews about Asics and bought a pair. Have bought a second pair since. $179 each.
5. Swimming goggles
Only Arena brand for me. Its anti-fog properties last the longest.
I bought Speedo goggles but they lose their anti-fog properties pretty soon. One unused pair even crystallised when it was in storage.
Shop wisely.
