Fatty Wing is the original. But Fatty Wing Seong that fat fuck is a copy cat. Ah Seong kicked the bucket in 2018 I think. My father knows him quite well. So last time when we dined there, he'll give us a 20% discount.

Does anybody remember the original Hock Lam Street Beef Kway Teow stall, once located behind the old Capitol building? The stall, which was famous for its traditional Teochew-style beef kway teow, had its last outlet at Alexandra Road. It is now long gone.

Beef noodles Odeon also famous right?
Later moved to Funan then now revived got a few branches Clementi and Jalan Besar

My old man used to be a Geylang pai Kia with SS connections. All his brothers used to dote on me, buying me toys and chocolates when I was young. Only a handful of them are still around, all old and frail. Just waiting to kick the bucket. Sad to see them in that state. All of them were real fighters in their prime.

I remember those old Swensen’s outlets with the jukebox machines and ice cream counters. Feels so different now. These days, if I’m craving nice food with a view, I check out https://www.skai.sg — their outlook from up high kinda adds to the nostalgic mood, especially during dinner when the city lights are on. Not the same, but still nice in its own way.

The original Magnolia Snack Bar was a popular, vintage diner chain in S'pore at the Capitol Building and Orchard Road. On the menu were ice cream, milkshakes and Western dishes. While the original snack bars closed in the 1980s, a modern version, Capitol Milk Bar is now at the Capitol Kempinski Hotel, which offers vintage diner experience that some Samsters will be familiar with.
