Lee will be cremated on Sunday after a state funeral expected to be attended by several Asia-Pacific leaders even though he was just an MP when he died.
I see this as a face saving statement.
Probably guest list not even confirm yet they clueless who's coming......still begging big shots to attend.
End up countries only send low rank foreign ministry officials or ambassadors....that is snub already no one gives a fuck even if his son is still pm....what "international political Titan"?
Compared to Ronald Reegan's funeral la....when the man died he was just a ordinary citizen who been out of office and limelight for decades but see who's who guest list that turned out to be biggest US funeral
I did a check on Ronald Reagan's funeral:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_and_state_funeral_of_Ronald_Reagan
He held his funeral in a Cathedral.. That is where a real funeral should be held, and not in Istana or parliament house.
Let's check out the foreign dignitaries of Ronald Reagan:
Foreign dignitaries attended as well, coming from 165 nations. The dignitaries included 36 past and present heads of state and government, and U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan. Leading the dignitaries were Mikhail Gorbachev, Margaret Thatcher, Brian Mulroney, and Prince Charles (representing Queen Elizabeth II).[33] Other world leaders included UK Prime Minister Tony Blair and his wife Cherie, German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder, former Japanese Prime Minister Yasuhiro Nakasone, Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, Jordan's King Abdullah, as well as interim presidents Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan and Ghazi al-Yawer of Iraq, and Irish President Mary McAleese.[33] Blair, Schröder, Berlusconi, Karzai, King Abdullah, and al-Yawer had been at the G-8 Summit in Sea Island, Georgia, and later decided to extend their stay in the U.S. to attend the funeral. Schröder said about attending the funeral: "It is appropriate that the German chancellor says, 'Thank you,' and that is what I'm doing.'"[7] For Karzai, the funeral was part of his week-long visit to the U.S. and it was the beginning of his visit to Washington. He scrapped a visit to the West Coast to visit the Afghan community there to attend the funeral.[34] World leaders that attended the summit, but decided not to extend their stay in the U.S. to attend the funeral paid tribute at the summit, including Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin, French President Jacques Chirac, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern, also president of the European Union, and Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi.[35] McAleese's presence had special significance, as she paid tribute to Reagan's Irish roots, recalling his visit to Ireland in 1984.[36]
Why so many go and attend, because he is the president of REAL democracy.. LKY is not democracy but a dictator who killed and destroyed his political opponents. Reagan never did that.
