SINGAPORE: The old Yan Kit swimming pool in Tanjong Pagar Constituency is expected to be fully demolished by March 2012.
This, after residents unsuccessfully petitioned to have the pool made operational again, after it was closed about a decade ago.
The land on which the pool sits is being managed by the Singapore Sports Council.
An initial plan was to return the plot to the Singapore Land Authority, but no firm decision has been taken yet.
Observers said there are many development possibilities for the area.
Micholas Mak, executive director of Research & Consultancy at SLP International, said: "The land can actually potentially be built into a number of uses like, for example, a new condominium, a mixed development, or hotel. Or even just as a new office block. It all depends on the zoning that the government is going to allocate to this piece of land."
