By now some of us heard about the Sunday morning incident at Blk 511 Bishan where PAP grassroots leaders blocked food patrons from occupying seats at the Hawker Centre to have their own gathering with their MP. I have no doubt that many were aghast how such an inappropriate conduct was allowed in the first place. We penalise and even suspended hawkers for reserving seats with Newton usually in the lime light. So why is this different.

Now here is a real incident that took place half a decade ago when culture and civility was not a high priority.

On May 1961, the Bukit Ho Swee fire destroyed 2,000 homes and made 16,000 people homeless. Goh Sin Tub, Senior Civil Servant and a well regarded Catholic and Literary figure was put in charge of the crisis centre. Each morning he would attend to a long queue of people making all sorts of requests. One morning as was his practice he would look at how long the queue is prior to meeting the people when he spotted a familiar figure in a crumpled shirt and pants. He immediately recognised him. He was in the queue and that gentleman was Singapore's richest's man, role model and leader of the largest dialect group as well as the captain of industry.

Goh went up to him and asked him why he was queuing and asked him to follow him. That gentleman said he did not feel right jumping the queue and had to be persuaded. It later turned out that Policemen on site too had recognised the gentleman and told him to go straight into the office but he chose to join the queue.

That gentleman sat in front of Goh and wrote out a 6 figure cheque to help the homeless.

Tell me why Lee Kong Chian felt that it was only right to queue while these fucking grassroots arseholes and their MP felt that they were above everyone else. Lee Kong Chian was not there to make a request but he was there to provide relief and it turned out to be the single donation for the Bukit Ho Swee Fire.

the sheer hypocrisy ...... at punggol east BE rally, i remember someone saying we the people are their masters...

Because Lee Kong Chian was there to offer help, whereas the fucking grassroots jumped queue to polish their ministers (in the hope to get more help).

This is a moral lesson for the PAP minions. How to carry a big stick but talk and walk quietly. Quiet confidence. PAP MPs have small sticks but walk and talk loudly. They have forgotten the source of the water they are drinking.

jw5 or kukubird,

Can you guys verify, validate or authenticate the Lee Kong Chian story or not? Dont afterwards say this and say that.

Aiya , its already a well known fact that PAP have alot of privilege in Singapore .

Gentlemen,

I believe that whatever arguments you have regarding each of you, this matter has gone on for too long.

With respect, please take your arguments to another thread for the two of you, and your supporters.

Thank you for your anticipated co-operation.

You haven't answered those questions in my previous post.
Snipe at people offering stories? I have already pointed out that he is a cunning and manipulative snake who tried to derail the election campaign of people who are trying to serve the people of Singapore, while telling stories about others who also tried to serve. A smokescreen during non election time to hoodwink whoever is here that he is anti pap, so that his anti opposition allegations near election time will be believed. Clear now?

You would really love to know who he is, wouldn't you? While at the same time trying to help him protect his identity. It's a pity that you have no clue, can keep guessing. :D

It's a sad irony that you don't realise you are one of the Porlumpar Asslicking Wannabe Sycophants (PAWS) that you are so critical of in this forum.
Pity that your ex Rafflesian brain can't even figure that out.

Gentlemen,

All of you, please move on.
Not every individual is correct all the time.
There is no need to continue to argue, and there is no relevance to allege any Rafflesian brain.

Take care.

At hawker centres, patrons can sit anywhere they like, this is HDB rule. This is wrong!

This Lee Kong Chian had been unsinkified while the PAP PLPs are sinkies - I think some people may think

This has gone on long enough. The constant hounding after every post and hijacking threads is ridiculous. Even if he were a despised forumner whom you are hounding, you lower yourself beneath him and make yourself look like a stark raving mad idiot. Aren't you tired?

Your attempts to get at him are feeble and like water off a duck's back, and akin to insanity in doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result.

Want to say his name, just say.

Bros, as much as I dislike the current garmen's management....let's be objective here....

- it is a coffeeshop and not a hawker centre hence I think the NEA no touting rule does not apply
- if the residents have an issue, then they should take up with the coffee shop landlord
- I'm surprised that they can equate a coffeeshop to a hawker centre
- my view is that they have reserved a large number of tables which may have pissed off some residents but its the same as some coffee shop that has a zi char stall that reserves tables for their customers only.....you don't expect the coffee shop to turn away business right?
- typical sinkies that expect too much...

if I'm not mistaken, this coffeeshop is directly across the road from the Community Centre so the grassroots people probably planned to walked over after some event...the mistake I see is that they should have made some rooms available at the CC and have the coffee shop bring over the food...

It also depends. If grassroots people come and muscle in to yr coffeeshop, you as the coffeeshop owner, also will try to play ball and suffer some inconvenience and loss of business, which unless the PAP is compensating, will be unfair to the landlord, right?

If you are the MP or his grassroots advisor, you should also be "zhi dong" what, isnt it? It's people's coffeeshop and how can you reserve the tables just like that without paying. That's abuse of power.

If it is a food centre, the latitude is probably greater for the MP and his cronies, but still must exercise more discreetness and not inconvenience the residents who will have to walk farther for their daily food.

I recall an old thread in the delphi forum that ran into hundreds of posts. In the end, it became a thread for ex schoolboys to drop names

If they did not pay, it would be a gross abuse......I didn't read about that though so unlikely that no compensation was made for the food consumed....my point is if the coffeeshop is so popular, it would have been full especially on Sundays hence on any given sunday the residents would have ta-pao and brought the food home.

they should actually complain about the table hoggers who will sit at the table and drink one glass of coffee for 2 hours while reading his newspaper.....heck, they probably are the hoggers that got deprived of their "right" to hog ....hahaha....sorry, being cheeky there....
