Lecturer goes into a rage...because students use AI to do assignment

The lecturer should be grateful that the students are only using AI to do assignments and not attempting to use AI to lecture them.

All these AI chatbots are breeding dumb people who think they are using an all knowing deux ex machina. LLM AI just uses info dredged from the internet and use human friendly delivery. If lazy idiots can't discern AI bot information then they are just useless students

The lecturer, a paid professional needs not rage against the machine, he only needs to get even....

What Humans had made, another Human can unmade.

1.
AI are a good resource for data finding & would be helpful to students, whom had to search entire books & even libraries to get answers in the past. Today, it is a mere click on light speed for answers, saving much time to plough thru volumes of works, even for adults at work such as lawyers, doctors, engineers, etc.

2. However, AI HAS ITS LIMITATIONS. It is merely algorithm based, & the best AI would only dare give PROBABILITIES to questions ask, which are NOT specific. Only lousy AI created by for profit organizations would give specific answers to even simple questions on a hit or miss basis, & there lay its limitations.

3. What matters when using AI is the PROMPT button. It is HOW one type in the questions that one gets a specific answer, & OFTEN, it would require SEVERAL PROMPTS to get to such.

S. Korea had initially ban the China made DEEPSEEK AI because they REALIZED that DeepSeek had been STEALING PROMPTS from users, in order to get its copied AI to be better, at the expense of Humankind. Thus it PROVES how important PROMPT AI is.....

Even more so, there are NOW jobs in the industry that HIRES Humans whom know how to PROMPT AI....

4. Thus, in order for the lecturer to ensure that students get SOLID education, he MUST rise above & OUT-THINK the capabilities & limitations of what even the best AI can do, to SET questions that relies not on probabilities, but SPECIFIC answers.

It may need MOE to gather the best in the AI industry & others, to discuss, debate & find solutions on HOW our Singaporean kids. the innocent generations of our future leaders & contributors of Singapore Civilization, can be better educated, to analytically RISE above machines....

Current developments of AI tech ARE NOT as ALL-KNOWING as the few had foolishly touted or demand others to believe....

-------------------------------------------------------------

An example:- The insignificant nobody me just ask a simple basic Primary one question to Google AI:-

John has an apple in his bag. He ordered another apple from USA. How many apples does he have now?

Google AI answer:
- John now has two apples. He initially had one apple in his bag, and then received another one from USA.

I guess AI ignored the word NOW from my question......An order from USA would take at the least a few days to arrive, even if the kindest American seller would send just one apple to a buyer in another country.....

Students can use AI to help accelerate their research and synthesize the findings. Then they must do the ground work to verify the info and put into their own words, not cut n paste. This saves time from going into dead ends or wrong directions

There can be no denial that current AI tech can help Humankind, but we Humans MUST always understand that it is only meant TO ASSIST, & NOT TAKE OVER knowledge. Current AI tech is NOT an all knowing entity.

It depends on Human input, & there is NO mortal that is not flawed, thus solutions from AI, whichever country it hails from, are questionable & would need CRITICAL ANALYSIS of its provided data, NOT from the used AI itself, but from many many other sources, even libraries with hardcover books as further references.

Tech is good, BUT we MUST control tech & NOT let Tech CONTROL us, otherwise those whom are providing the tech, whom are only fellow FLAWED Humans, will determine our direction & path for evolution. For good or bad, sadly NO mortal is perfect.......therefore, RELIANCE on AI must be LIMITED.

On another level, take the example of a kid who grew up in this AI era.

He would still NEED to know the fundamentals of the 3 'r's - reading, writing & arithmetic. Without such, the kid would NEVER even understand how to use appliances, form the necessary questions for prompt & the bigger picture of the Adulthood which the kid will have to take over when he grows up, & not just grow old as some of this current generation are still mentally living at Primary 3 level.

And such education begins from Primary one to Uni level, to be mentally prepared for progression at every education level each year, to be able to absorb knowledge taught, for specialization of knowledge into the Adult world, in order that one understands the bigger picture to ask the right question & questions, to obtain the best answer, as algorithms are based upon PROBABLITIES, & NOT direct answers, even with a Quantum processor that only very few today have access to.

My point is - solid education on the fundamentals from Primary one to Uni are still necessary in order that we rise above machines & not let machines based upon expediency or laziness to rise above us.....
