THE board of management of the People's Association (PA) has been reappointed for another three-year term, with Mr Lawrence Wong replacing Mr Chan Chun Sing following the restructuring of their ministries last month.
Mr Wong is the Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, whose ministry oversees the organisation tasked to promote racial harmony and social cohesion in Singapore.
Set up last month, Mr Wong's ministry took over the sports, youth and community engagement functions from Mr Chan's Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports, which was restructured into the Ministry of Social and Family Development.
The PA yesterday thanked Mr Chan for his contributions.
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, who is PA chairman, made the re-appointments which will start from Tuesday.
Labour chief Lim Swee Say remains deputy chairman, and PA chief executive director Yam Ah Mee as secretary-treasurer.
The board members are: Second Minister (Environment and Water Resources, and Foreign Affairs) Grace Fu; Senior Minister of State (Home Affairs and Foreign Affairs) Masagos Zulkifli; grassroots adviser to Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC Janil Puthucheary; Aptitude Management Consulting executive chairman Eric Low; retired audit partner Wong Yew Meng; and NTUC Central Committee vice-president Edwin Lye.
They join four other board members who were elected from among PA's corporate members in April last year and whose terms end in 2014.
Hmm so PAP = PA? Will be an uphill battle for the oppositions.
