A FORMER cabby who punched MP Seng Han Thong at a meet-the-people session a few years ago is in trouble with the law again.
Koo Tong Huat, 77, was charged a week ago with unlawfully having a 12cm-long knife at Subordinate Courts, Havelock Square, on May 15.
In 2006, he was accused of punching the MP for Yio Chu Kang in the mouth at the People's Action Party's Yio Chu Kang branch office on July 20.
A taxi driver for more than 40 years, he had gone there to get his revoked taxi licence reinstated.
The case was compounded on the first day of the trial in October that year after Koo apologised to Mr Seng.
Koo, who made a second appearance in court on Monday in the latest case, will go for a pre-trial conference on June 2.

was charged a week ago with unlawfully having a 12cm-long knife at Subordinate Courts

he brought knife to sub-court:confused:

or he was charged in sub-court for having knife in unspecified location:confused:

Is this the same MP Seng Han Thong who got burned too by his ward member some time ago?

If he is the same MP, then his karma must be real bad.

It is not his karma, his attitude must be really bad....

I still want to know why he was punched and why he was burnt, on 2 separate occasions by 2 different people.
The reason that those who attacked him had mental problems is not sufficient.
Even people with mental problems have their reasons for doing things.

Ah Seng is a arrogant swine who deserved to be beaten or burnt.

Hee Heng, you incorrigible bastard of a dog, long time no see!! You chain your bike to any doors recently?

the scholar had plenty of IQ, but has no EQ. maybe he simply has no tact in the things he say or do. i believe this idiot of an MP must've been a platoon or company sabo king during his days in NS.

Because he was misunderstood.:)

this MP seng han tong tried to learn old man's style but didnt quite delivered the statement with enough impact, so kena backfire.

i believe what got him into so much mess is bcos he tells his ward member:

"sir, u must understand 1 thing, meet-the-people session is just for me to sit here & wait for the residents to come visit me, the same way u do visitation during CNY. so, your problem is your problem, don't make your problem my problem. since this is your problem, then u better find a way to solve your own problem, thank you for coming to this meet-the-people session, bye bye"

NAME: KOO TONG HUAT FIN NO: S0412218F CONVICTED ON : 02 AUGUST 2010

SINGAPORE - He might have escaped a jail term when he punched Member of Parliament Seng Han Thong in 2006.

But less than four years later, former taxi driver Koo Tong Huat (picture), 78, will find himself behind bars after running afoul of the law again.
Yesterday, Koo was sentenced to two weeks' jail for possessing a knife in public -after he asked to be incarcerated but claimed that he would create trouble again upon his release.

On May 15, a woman alerted the police after she spotted Koo carrying a knife - with a 12-cm blade - outside the Subordinate Courts.
Koo was subsequently subdued by two policemen after a struggle. Yesterday, Koo, who claimed trial to the offence, told District Judge Liew Thiam Leng that he had wanted to kill himself that day.

Koo, who was acquitted in his previous appearance in the docks after Mr Seng accepted his public apology, asked to be jailed for his latest transgression.
He explained that he did not want his family to help him pay a fine.

In his verdict, the district judge said he had considered Koo's age in sentencing but he noted that Koo neither disputed he had the knife nor raised any doubts in the prosecution's case.

Life is getting too hard for that taxi driver. He is just trying to get free meals and lodging in our Changi hostel.

I'm no longer surprised by strange behaviousr I see among uncles & aunties in buses, bus interchanges, MRT,...., they're everwhere:eek:

Many of them have cracked under the strain of the Spore system. You'll probably see them as taxi drivers because they've lost their previous job(s)

He rather die than plead guilty in the courts...

What a brave guy!
