A Korean writer studying for a PhD in China has attracted people's attention with his new book "China, can I say 'No' to you?" On May 20, he posted another message on his microblog saying 10 things he doesn't like about China.

Kim Jae Hyun, a PhD candidate at Shanghai's Jiao Tong University, graduated from Korea University. He has worked in China since 2003 and received his MBA from Peking University. He is also a writer for UK-based Financial Times and a columnist for China's state-run International Herald Leader.

Kim wrote on microblog that there are 10 things in China he can hardly tolerate. The list includes the internet being too slow, restricted movies not being available in theaters, and food safety problems.

At the beginning of Kim's post, he said he has lived in China for 10 years and has already gotten used to most "weird" things. Still, he posts the 10 things he just can't get over.

He says he has to spend a half hour everyday getting online, wasting 1,624 hours over the past 9 years. The food in China is what makes Kim most nervous. When he just arrived in the country, he worried only about eating too much salt and monosodium glutamate.

But after 9 years, he is more concerned. The 2008 milk scandal, which lead to the death of more than a few infants, he says, "totally destroyed my confidence in Chinese food."

Kim is also perplexed that China still doesn't have a sufficient rating system for movies, and many films are not permitted to be shown. An uncut version of Taiwanese director Ang Lee's Lust, Caution and Taiwanese film 3D Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstasy were banned.

At the end of the article, Kim writes why he still chooses to live in China despite the inconveniences — Chinese people are kind and it is a melting pot for cultures just like the US. "These two reasons are sufficient enough for me to love China," he says.
