Here again, it surfaces out the simplistic approach taken by the PAP-led Government wrt governance and accountability. As always, PAP-led Government guiding principle is 'do something to show that action has been taken. Attribute the blame to the PEOPLE, and make sure the Government makes MONEY when something goes wrong.' Why is a maid-employer made to bear responsibility?
Is it not true that the maid agency is responsible to ensure suitability of the maids whom it is offering for employment? Maid agencies are paid for this service of doing due diligence. Who is responsible for a maid-on-offer with a criminal record or infected with a contagious disease or mental illness? The employer? Should not the relevant governmental agencies be held responsible to ensure employability and for approving the applications? What services are the governmental agencies providing for the 'this and that fees' that they collect? Again, is it fair to blame the people-employer for incompetent and sub-standard work done by professional maid agencies and related governmental bodies?
Why is the PAP-led Government DOING this TO Singaporeans? Can the PAP LEEders be trusted to govern competently? Should Singaporeans continue to allow arrogant, complacent and incompetent PAP LEEders to destroy the credibility of the Singapore Government?
