SINGAPORE - Almost 3,000 migrant workers attended the first ever Dormitories Roadshow at Tampines, organised by the Migrant Workers' Centre.

It was the first out of four roadshows that will take place across migrant workers' dormitories in Singapore.

In an interview by RazorTV, Chairman of the Migrant Workers' Centre, Mr Yeo Guat Kwang said that more dormatories need to be built.

He also pointed out that while visiting residents as a Member of Parliament (MP), the residents tell him that an increasing number of foreign workers are renting HDB flats.

Mr Yeo believes it may be because these workers are unable to find alternative accommodation, and says he hopes that the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) and Ministry of National Development (MND) will look into providing more accommodation for migrant workers.

Most workers were found to spend a large amount of their free time in the compound of their dormitories, but some of the places that they enjoy visiting include Tekka Mall, Marina Bay and attractions like the Zoo, Jurong Bird Park, and Sentosa

Today's migrant workers could be tomorrow's new citizen. MIW is merely just planning ahead and cement new power base for the future. Why don't oppo do the same?
