Looks like the long queues in Singapore has fostered something good in the end.

After being on sale for a couple of hours, most Australian stores selling the iPad 2 were putting up the "sold out" signs.
In Sydney, healthy crowds gathered at the George St and Bondi Store with lines stretching down the street and around the block.
The lucky people towards the front of the lines, some of which had been waiting more than 50 hours, were given tickets to ensure they were allocated a coveted iPad 2 once they went on sale.
There were loud cheers and clapping once the person at the head of the line was allowed inside the George St store to buy one of the first iPad 2s in the country.

This determined customer’s name was Alex Lee. He arrived out of Singapore and took his place at the front of the line on George St straight out of the airport for a wait of 53 hours.

He emerged a short time later holding two iPad 2s triumphantly above his head.
Meanwhile down the street other retailers like JB Hi-Fi and Dick Smith also began selling the iPad 2 at 5pm but were unable to advertise that fact until the clock struck five.

Flash queues formed and these outlets were sold out in around 20 minutes.
Similar reports posted in Twitter showed the same result in Big W, Harvey Norman, Myer and David Jones stores as well.
A JB Hi-Fi employee in Melbourne’s Bourke St store said new stock will arrive in six weeks.
The Apple stores appear to be holding the bulk of the Australian stock so as long as your willing to wait a while you are a good chance of being able to buy one.
Stock is replenished at the Apple stores everyday so it’s a day to day proposition.
The Castle Hill Apple store sold out by 7pm but the George St store was still holding stock at the same time but that was with more than 700 people still lined up outside.
According to reports in tech forums and posts on Twitter, allocations at resellers were as low as 20 units each.
Stores are now taking pre-orders so potential buyers can put their names down and hope for the best.
