KFC prompt investigations after fight video goes viral
By BALQIS LIM - 18 January 2015 @ 5:48 PM

KUALA LUMPUR: A video of KFC staff involved in a tussle at its Jalan Raja Laut franchise has gone viral since Friday.

KFC Malaysia senior vice-president Ling Mee Jiuan in a statement said initial investigation revealed that the fight occurred between two siblings over a private matter.

“It has come to our attention that there has been a video circulating in the digital sphere involving KFC staff.

“The incident that happened at the KFC Jalan Raja Laut outlet involving our staff is highly regrettable.

“We have initiated an extensive internal investigation to fully understand the cause of this incident,” he said on KFC’s Facebook page.

He added that KFC conducts extensive training on what is expected of their staff when working at the restaurants, but had failed following this occasion.

“Rest assured that we will improve on our existing programs, so as to avoid incidents of this nature from happening again.

“At KFC, we are committed to the highest standards of excellence and strive to ensure the safety and well being of both our customers and staff at all times.”

The 36 second-video of the incident, believed to be recorded by a customer waiting in the line, has gone viral on social media since it was uploaded about 11.00pm on Friday.

The video showed a female employee fighting with a male staff, and another employee stroke a flying kick at the male staff.

As of 5pm today, the video has already garnered almost 30,000 views on Facebook and YouTube, and was shared by 1,316 social media users.
