The Republic will be raising its contribution to the World Bank’s capital substantially, in return for a bigger say on the organisation. Parliament yesterday approved a motion to raise Singapore’s subscription to the capital of World Bank, officially known as the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), from US$38.6 million (S$49.4 million) to US$672 million.
