It should offer a promotion to shoppers , maybe free face masks for shoppers who come to the mall.

It has always been empty. Location is not too good.

There are simply too many malls in Sinkieland, some towns have three or four malls close to one another.

Back in the day, going to the mall is something you plan for the upcoming weekend, not somewhere that you can stop by on your way back home. Plaza Singapura, Parkway Parade etc.

I missed the old Plaza Singapura....the vinyl dept was well stocked in Yaohan back then and the specialist Pertama Audio store and Yamaha hi-fi dept was my fav spots.
A stark contrast with today's glorified provision shops.

Indeed. McDonalds, Ponderosa, DBS Bank, and the mermaid statues.

I was happily munching on a McDonalds burger, packed in the styrofoam box, on the upper deck of a non aircon bus opposite Plaza Singapura.

Uncle Choo’s Diadora sports shop on the 2nd floor.
Americaya shoes which at the entrance of Yaohan.
Doremi at the 5th floor
They had a Swensen’s too and it was the first to use walkie headsets for the crew.....such a novelty back then.

The old Plaza Singapura felt much bigger too. Dunno what the fuck they did, now the place looks small and claustrophobic.

Basically more 'partitions', and they added an annex. Got to maximize rent collection.

A similar 'upgrading' is happening to Great World City now.

That is another redundant mall. Only nostalgia I get when there is reminiscing about my demolished Kim Seng Primary School is next to it, now replaced with a tall condo.

All these Mall owners think that when A is successful, they thought they can replicate the same success at location B for Shop A. It maybe so, but fatigue sets in. Plus mall owners think that their shop lot cost X amount of money on market rate. But if no ones is renting it, it is to tell you that your shop rental rate does not necessary command that kind of market rate. Something these landlord always have wet dream about.

So land lord replicate their formula across in the hope that it drive cost down, and quick rental return across the board. This actually makes the individual owner happy because you have a a ready platform to showcase your product across in the shortest possible time.

Kim Seng is the original Paikia School....along with Bukit Ho Swee and Delta East were the holy trinity in that area for producing the bulk of SS members.

Yes the ponderosa on the 2nd floor had a big pic open space like a huge extended balcony next to it. If I remember correctly the macdonalds was there too.

If I remember correctly, there was a bowling alley at Kim Seng Road. I know because some pai kia acquaintances of mine went there to bowl after school.
