HAARP, the High-frequency Active Auroral Research Program, is a scientific research program based at the University of Alaska Fairbanks that studies the ionosphere

. It is sometimes mistakenly linked to conspiracy theories about weather control, but its primary function is to investigate and simulate processes in the Earth's upper atmosphere.

There is also a live album by the band Muse named "HAARP" and another historical project called HARP (High Altitude Research Project), which was a Canadian and American project to study upper atmosphere using large guns.
