Kangaroo Court - Unfair Cases (Pls Contribute and Make Known)

ATTACKED FOUR POLICE OFFICERS, SKILLS INCLUDE FACE PUNCHING, BITING AND HEADBUTTING, PROBATION ONLY.

The undergraduate who attacked four police officers after having too much to drink has been sentenced to 15 months of probation and ordered to perform 100 hours of community service.

Natasha Wan Xue Wen, 24, pleaded guilty to using criminal force and abusive words on public servants, and behaving in disorderly manner.

Wan is also required to stay at home from 11pm to 6am during her probation period. Her parents signed a $5,000 bond to ensure her good behaviour.

She was warned by the district judge that anything other that strict adherence to these conditions could have her hauled back to court to be sentenced.

At about 4am on October 26 last year, two policemen saw a bouncer escorting Wan, her boyfriend Lim Zhao Ming, and another man out of Zouk.

Mr Lim had a cut, and bloodstains on his shirt. The two officers asked if he had been assaulted, and if he needed medical treatment.

Mr Lim shouted at the policemen, and Wan suddenly punched an officer in the face and began hurling vulgarities.

When two female police officers arrived to arrest Wan, she put up a struggle.

On the way to the police station, Wan head-butted one of the female officers and bit the other on the wrist and hand.

The officer who was bitten had to be warded in hospital for six days and given 13 days' medical leave.

STOMPer NoPlaceForV feels people shouldn't drink too much on a night out just in case alcohol clouds your judgement, leading you to do things not within your nature -- like in the case of a 24-year-old woman who attacked two officers outside a club.

According to a Straits Times news report, Natasha Wan Xue Wen was being escorted out of popular nightspot Zouk, alongside her boyfriend and another man, when two police officers on patrol came up to them to offer their assistance.

That was when the female undergraduate stepped forward and punched one of the officers in the face while hurling expletives. When two female officers arrived at the scene, she resisted arrest and had to be restrained.

Despite this, Wan proceeded to head-butt one of the female officers and bit the other on the wrist and hand while in a police car heading to the police station.

A Health-Science Authority test revealed that her blood-alcohol level was 172mg per 100ml of blood -- more than twice the legal level for drink-driving.

After coming across this report, STOMPer NoPlaceForV hopes people will take notice of the potential effects of alcohol and wrote:

"I don't understand why Natasha reacted the way she did, especially towards law enforcement personnel.

"Yes, Wan may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time, but to retaliate even after she was restrained inside a car is very unwise.

"I'm not sure what the sentence will be since she's already pleaded guilty, but I hope this sends out a warning to us all that we should always watch our alcohol intake lest we end up in a case like this."

Students generally are given probation especially University students. Its the same the world over. University studies are not compulsory unlike general schooling and requires certain substantive qualities.

What the public are not aware that many cases involving students including those in secondary, pre-U, Poly and Uni never even make it to the courts. The vast majority are at the direction of AGC given a warning which is administered by a senior officer in the presence of parents.

The fact that this went to court, she was convicted is bad enough as it is now a criminal record and she will need to declare it when applying for jobs, applying for VISAs etc The damage is done.

I suspect that this lady must have been cocky during police investigation or the incident was really nasty. The possiblity is either the parents or boyfriend are cocky.
