the Chinese Communist government was so cruel back then. even the Chinese Nationalist government and Warlords holding absolute power did not shoot at any student protestors groups in 1910-30s feudal China.

maybe not the scale of tiananmen but the following wikipedia's links to death of students and unions members by the KMT and other warlords.

The only thing that has possibly prevented something like this from happening here is their constant worry over how their counterparts in "first world" countries think about them.
