The Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) and Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats (CALD) welcome the long-overdue release from house arrrest of Nobel Peace Laureate, CALD Honorary Individual Member, and Burma’s democracy leader, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.

We call upon Burma’s government to ensure that her release be unconditional and permanent, her basic political and civil rights respected, and her safety guaranteed. We also urge the regime to immediately and unconditionally release Min Ko Naing, Ko Ko Gyi, Khun Htun Oo and more than two thousand other political prisoners in Burma.

While we rejoice with the rest of the world about Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s release, we deeply lament that the recently held election was a sham and a mockery of democratic processes. We are concerned that a possible escalation of armed conflicts between the regime and ethnic groups may ensue because the election was largely seen as unfair and not free.

We reiterate the need for inclusive and credible democratic processes in Burma to usher in genuine dialogue and national reconciliation and a more secure and prosperous future for its people.

These are silly Ang Mohs & Asians whose mind clouded by Ang Moh craps, blowing hot air as if they had any positive grip on the Junta's throat when they have absolutely nothing!:p As if Junta will give a shit about what ever they said.:rolleyes: They made statement as if they command any strong position, when they only enjoy to feel that way in their own imaginations.

Unless they are willing to fight to bleed and die together with the Junta in a bloodbath, and positively ensure that victory is secured within their hands, don't ever blow these hot air like Hollywood stage lines. Impressive but totally hollow. The Burmese monks had at least died and bleed to defy Junta on Yangon streets, and they kept quiet though. These Ang Mohs & the like WAF did they do? Just lip services and big talks driven by childish ideas!

Get real! They don't like to see a deadly civil war in Burma and then idealistically blow so much of hot air, nothing will ever work coming from them!
