Woman fights for her life after husband hacked off her hands, feet
KLUANG: A 46-year-old woman is fighting for her life after her husband hacked off her hands and feet and slashed her body several times following an argument.
The woman, who works in Singapore, was still in a coma today and doctors are unsure if they will be able to reattach her hands and feet.
K. Menaga lost a lot of blood after the attack by her husband, who then committed suicide by drinking poison and hanging himself at their home in Taman Suria.
A police spokesman said Menaga was still in the Kluang Hospital intensive care unit.
“Too much blood was lost. The victim is still in coma since yesterday and under intensive care at the Kluang Hospital,” he said.
It was understood that Menaga and her 47-year-old unemployed husband had gotten into a fight yesterday after she returned from work as a kitchen cleaner in Singapore.
As she was about to leave the house, her husband slashed her then chopped off her feet and hands. He slashed her several more times, then left her bleeding profusely in the porch of their home.
He then drank pesticide and hanged himself from the balcony of their double-storey house.
The incident occured before the eyes of their only 10-year-old son and the man's mother about 11am.
Police found Menaga in a pool of blood, barely breathing, and the body of of N. Marimuthu when they arrived at the house in Jalan Kedondong 4.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Roze Shaari said police had ruled out the possibility that the cause of the attack was jealousy over Menaga’s alleged close relationship with another man.
