Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean and Minister for Home Affairs, Minister for Law and Acting Minister for Foreign Affairs K Shanmugam will pay their last respects to the late Johor Prince Tunku Abdul Jalil Ibni Sultan Ibrahim at Istana Besar in Johor Bahru on Sunday (Dec 6), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Tunku Jalil died on Saturday at the royal ward of Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor. He was 25.

The fourth of six siblings, the prince had been battling stage four liver cancer after being diagnosed with the illness late last year, reported The New Straits Times.

MFA said in a statement Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan have also written to Johor Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar to convey their condolences. The text of the letters is appended.

Your Royal Highness,

Ho Ching and I are deeply saddened by the passing of your beloved son, His Highness Tunku Laksamana Johor Tunku Abdul Jalil Ibni Sultan Ibrahim. We convey our heartfelt condolences to you, Raja Zarith and your family.

Tunku Jalil was well-loved for his compassion, his charitable work for the Johor community and the police, and his passion for the environment and animals. I recall him telling us about his work with the Singapore Zoo, and his walks in our Botanic Gardens. He will always be remembered fondly as a young, humble prince who so readily loved and served his people.

Our thoughts are with you and Raja Zarith and the people of Johor during this difficult period of grief.

With deepest sympathies.

Yours sincerely

LEE HSIEN LOONG

Your Royal Highness

I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of your beloved son, His Highness Tunku Laksamana Johor Tunku Abdul Jalil Ibni Sultan Ibrahim.

Tunku Jalil was devoted and generous in his support of the arts, music, sports, and the environment. His care and concern towards the less fortunate also touched the hearts of all Johoreans. He will be missed dearly.

My thoughts and heartfelt sympathies are with you and your family and the people of Johor in this period of bereavement.

Yours sincerely

DR VIVIAN BALAKRISHNAN

4 women missed out on a chance of a good life married to this prince

Died so young? So he must be good?

Dictators always lived to an ripe old age!

Jesus also died young!

i just don't get it. this son dies of liver cancer. and one of the pioneers of liver transplant (ex-malaysian from seremban) lives in singapore. why did he go do the surgery in guangzhou? Unless it was already too late to operate and he wouldn't listen.

Wahahahhahahaha... If he take care of his health well, he will not be dead.. Take out liver and radiate it? I thought radiation will kill the cells in the liver.. If you say radiate it then feed it to the dogs, I believe it more.

a relapse pinky will join him soon.

all sad person will rejoice then.
