Jobless woman charged for issuing fake rental cheque

A jobless woman was charged on Friday with cheating after she provided a fake cheque to the owner of a flat where she was trying to lease a room.
Teo Weini Winnie, 28, allegedly issued the home-owner with what appeared to be a Standard Chartered Bank cheque for $4,800, which was for the deposit and three months worth of rent for a room at the Elias Road flat.
Teo has been remanded at Bedok Police division for further investigations.
The prosecution said she is believed to be involved in a series of cheating and theft cases.
