A Malaysian woman, 54, ended up in the intensive care unit (ICU) and is awaiting surgery after she was allegedly struck by a motorcycle while walking along the Causeway to Malaysia.

The incident occurred on Jan. 22 at around 6:40pm.

Speaking to Mothership on Jan. 23 afternoon, the woman's daughter, Lixin, said her mother is awaiting surgery to remove blood clots from her brain.

She said: "My father and brother are at the police station filing a report right now, but we aren't sure if any eyewitness footage can be found."

"It would be a huge help if anyone who happened to be driving past that road at the time of the accident has dashcam footage showing what happened."

The incident occurred along the Malaysia side of the Causeway where the road splits into the motorcycle and car lanes.

Walked to Johor after shopping in Singapore

According to Lixin, she and her mother had just bought Chinese New Year goods from Singapore and were returning home to Johor, Malaysia.

Lixin said she was carrying a lot of things, but was walking ahead of her mother along the Causeway.

She had intended to find a place to rest at the Malaysia checkpoint and wait for her mother to catch up.

The daughter added that she reached the Malaysia checkpoint at 6:46pm and had no idea what had happened to her mother who was following behind her a distance away.

By 6:50pm, Lixin cleared immigration and she sat at the checkpoint to wait for her mother.

Lixin said she was the one who suggested walking across the Causeway as she did not want to wait for the bus, which could take up to two hours owing to traffic.

She said her mother was initially reluctant to cross the Causeway by foot as there were a lot of things to carry.

But Lixin's mother figured they could walk as this was not the first time they would be doing so.

According to comments on videos of the incident circulating online, paramedics arrived about an hour after the accident occurred.

Lost a lot of blood

Lixin said the back of her mother's head hit the road, which led to multiple blood clots.

Her mother will undergo surgery to remove the blood clots.

The skin on one leg was also ripped off, but the bone was not damaged.

The injured woman underwent a CT scan that found that other parts of her body were uninjured.

However, Lixin's mother coughed up blood on Friday morning.

She remained in coma likely due to the blood loss and a lack of oxygen to the brain, Lixin shared.

Her mother is currently unconscious and cannot breathe on her own.

Appealing for witness

Lixin added that a person happened to witness a motorcycle hitting her mother.

But there is currently no video evidence showing the motorcycle involved.

The family is working on a lead though.

A photo provided to Lixin showed a motorcycle, whose rider was likely at the scene.

It is unclear if the motorcyclist was involved in the incident.

Lixin explained that her father was coincidentally passing by the Malaysia checkpoint on the way to the hospital at 7:15pm when he subsequently saw the same motorcycle on the road.

It did not appear to have sustained any damages.

The family are unable to identify the rider at the moment.

It is unclear to Lixin if the motorcycle was the same one that hit her mother or it had stopped by the road to render help.

The injured woman's daughter said she does not want to get the motorcyclist in trouble if he was not involved in the accident, but she is appealing for any information he can provide to the authorities.

Serves her right for being cheapskate. Bus 170 not good enough for her?
