My wife's aunt rented her apartment to an Indian family - 2 years' contract. When she got back her apartment after two years, the kitchen cabinets and walls were so filthy and stained with ghee she had to spend $20k to renovate the entire kitchen. After that she never rented her apartment to any Indians.

Not racist, just being practical.

Not an isolated case....Their daily cooking of curry.....All stains plus bad hygiene.

I have been renting my other apartment to different Indian expat families for 2 decades because my real estate agent who is a former colleague, is a SG Indian. These tenants have been generally alright except for one family who left the walls in extremely bad condition - from their children drawing on them - before they returned to India. The common trait is that all needed repeated reminders to pay the rent, lied about the frequency of servicing the aircon and left the kitchen stove dirty owing to spilled curry that was not thoroughly cleaned.

Same. A shop was rented out to ceca. Dishonoured cheques throughout & overdued 6 months rental claiming bad business. It's their culture to take advantage of kind hearted people that allow them to laugh at landlord for believing their stories.

Not only CECA, MY tamil also got this problem trying to snake their way out of problems (they created). SG tamil not so much, except for the one sitting in the parliment.

Rented a rm to a MY young tamil couple. Zero budgeting, die die must have freshly cooked curry everyday. Used shallots somemore, lol. The final straw was they told me to forfeit the deposit as rental. Haha! I just told them to pack up and returned their effing deposit. Fucking joke.

There are many intelligent ones like my cousin and his wife from Ipoh, who worked in SG for decades, before retiring at 55 back home where they own a landed property and 2 cars. He was a SG PR while his wife took up SG citizenship.

The earlier ones are OK, really hardworking, happy with decent pay for their qualifications. Not all these current ones below 50s...Not qualified but kept on job hopping & blackmailing employers about jumping to another.

No one does wok hei in confined spaces. Fire also not as strong as shop. Be friendly to your your Chinese household & you can see what are cooked at home.

No one does it at home. Only in commercial kitchens and hawker stalls where you have a big enough fire.

The key is cleaning up after frying or cooking curry. Malay kitchens are spotless even though they cook sambal every day. The Indians don't bother to clean up. And ghee is more tenacious than vegetable oil or santan. Once it's solidified on countertops and walls you can't remove it.
