Man arrested after dismembered body of single mother found in his home in Japan​

A man was arrested for allegedly murdering a single mother and dismembering her body in the Shizuoka prefecture of Japan.
Police discovered the dismembered body of Ayumi Ito, 33, in the home of Yuki Tsuchiya, a 31-year-old married man with whom Ito allegedly had an affair.

Ito’s body parts were found on the balcony of Tsuchiya’s home and in his car.
According to local reports, Tsuchiya was arrested on Feb. 23 and has since confessed to dismembering Ito’s body in his home.

He reportedly told investigators that he hit Ito on the head with a blunt object in her car and strangled her with a cord.
The crime is believed to have been committed on Feb. 21, when Ito drove to Tsuchiya and had an argument.
Neighbors reportedly heard “rattling and banging” noises coming from Tsuchiya’s home in Numazu, Shizuoka, where he lives with his elderly father, his wife and their two children.

Ito lived in Iwata, which is about a two-hour drive from Numazu. Her car was found in a carpark about 280 meters away from Tsuchiya’s home.
Police believe Ito and Tsuchiya met in 2022 as members of a committee that contributed to the development of Shizuoka prefecture.
