Correction. Footage taken, was telecast on CNA, according to information I have received.
Paranoia and hatred clouds judgement

It is a fact that CNA telecast JBJ's funeral. It may not be in the manner which moniker makapaaa would have liked, but it was mentioned and presented in good light. I hope you are not going to deny fact, because of your blind hatred for the government of Singapore.

You are blinded, moniker makapaaa, as I have said. If the government of Singapore were malevolent, it would not even telecast the funeral at all. Just because CNA, within broadcast time constraints, could not feature the details you want, does not mean that parsimony was intentional. As important a place JBJ has in the history of Singapore, an entire news broadcast time-slot dedicated to JBJ is totally irrational and would actually raise questions on the competency of the government of Singapore and raise questions on whether it is a display of apologetics.

Emotion hatred should not change judgement of objective fact. Action or inaction carries consequences which 2nd and 3rd parties may judge as good or evil. But the fact of action taken and the objective consequences are not easily obscured.

Blogsphere rumblings had seem to prove that it pushes some people to decide to shore up their their image albeit a wee bit too late for they had exposed for all to see that decency and compassion is not exactly what they hold as virtues.

You are right, there are protocol by pap propaganda machines to observe when doing selective reporting such as:-

Anything positive about PAP: - blow it out of proportion
Anything negative about opposition:- ditto

Anything negattive about PAP: - maintain low tone
Anything positive about oppoistion: - ditto

The above trend is going to last as long as pap remains in power and that will sustain the press freedom at 154th - one of the lowest in the world and cannot even catch up with 3rd world.

You forgot to highlight about Tan Wah Piow besides Tang Liang Hong.

Please also highlight the fact that I found Prata-Man's wreath placed nearest to the Toilet where I made NeWater. :p:wink:

Sir, the reason why the Presstapo gave airtime / column space to JBJ's passing has nothing to do with fair mention - it is about shaping the news to present a false picture of events. It counts on the following:
  • there are more people who do not know JBJ than do - to these people, the Presstapo hopes to project the idea that they are generous to even give time / space to a 'small time oppositionist'
  • there are waverers who are pro-PAPzi but still interested in fair play - to them a total news blackout could offend that sense of fair play so much that it pushed them to the other side
  • there are those who are ready to point out such great sins of omission.
It is thus not 'blind hatred' that causes us to remonstrate against the Presstapo and the PAPzis - it is the frustration of being constantly fed lies and half truths and being expected to accept them as gospel.

Many governments in the world feed half truths and lies to their people and political remonsrations occur for both noble and malicious intent. However, it is the end result that counts. No doubt, Singaporeans, are tired from the constant change that Singapore embarks, but that is the price to pay for building what we have today in less than 50 years. The next 10-20 years will see more positive changes in this country as more educated Singaporeans come out to contribute to the nation. It is easy to mortgage the future of Singapore and let everyone party now. But your children and their children foots the bill.

There is no question of envy when comparisons are made with nations that have mortgaged their futures for exuberant consumption now. But the reckoning is coming as the Ponzi numbers game grow exponentially to the extent that the real economy is unable to pay for even the interests of loans in the virtual financial ecoonomy. When financial leverage runs amock, it is liken to borrow from a loanshark charging exorbitant rates, leading to a downward spiral into a bottomless abyss.

The government of Singapore knows citizens want to feel empowered to contribute back to society and there are many ways that can constructively be done. We welcome that as the beneficiaries are our children and their children. In time, Singapore will attract more talent from the world to enrich this nation, culturally and economically. Singaporeans must help provide the platform for integration and learn new skills at the same time.

a life story episode of devan nair was telecasted when the man kicked the bucket. likewise for many others who were no longer holding office. there were also many other short documentaries that depicted the lives of unique individuals who did extra-ordinary things for society.

maybe CNA n team r compiling something for JBJ in due time. watever the case may be, a musical dedicated to JBJ was done previously... so in some ways, JBJ already gained more credits than the oldman or prataman. while dragonboy cant even hold a candle against the veteran. uncle woodie... sigh... cant say much for the seatwarmer, can we?
