Re: JB Crimewatch

I agree.. So for those who still don't want to come to Malaysia because of security, please don't come..

The car thefts in Singapore can fight with Malaysia, just that they are rarely reported in the press.

Re: JB Crimewatch

Never before I've seen so many crime alert signboards all over this island esp in the heartlands since they opened the floodgates about 5yrs ago. I cannot imagine what will happen when a major crisis were to hit us anytime in future resulting in mass retrenchment. Will our poodles be able to handle even much more crime? Is it going to be free for all? Very scary.
I believe everyone of us must have a contingency plan ready now on standby. Or am I overexaggerating?

Haven't been to library for awhile and recently went there, heard this announcement about the need to take care of belongings and don't leave them around on the floor/table/shelf etc, the announcement even said that thefts do occur in libraries and they'll not be responsible for any loss. What is happening, surely never heard such announcements last time?!

This guy was recently charged in court and guess what, when all these sexual crimes was committed, our MSM did not breathe a word. Even the Sin Ming and New Paper are also keeping quiet about it.

The aim is to keep this island as pristine as possible, or so it seems.

Could some of the victims benefitted from some warning of some kind or if the media highlighted the modus operandi?

Re: JB Crimewatch

Actually mainstream medias tend to censor small crimes that happens. Most of the Malaysians aware of all this snatch and robbery crimes occurred are due to social media. Most of the victims post their experiences on social media especially in facebook to show us that we have to be aware of your surroundings and take precautions as it might happen to your family members as well

I think even foreigner criminals nowadays also know there're hardly any poodles patrolling just like TP on our roads. So many drivers breaking all kinds of rules now.
The other night I was with my wife driving past a traffic junction with green lights on and suddenly a car zoom across just inches in front of us. That means the traffic lights were red from his side. If I reached the junction 1 sec faster, we will be like the ferrari victims. My wife's face just turn pale and was speechless for few mins. LTA should do away with all the hedges and trees near every traffic junction as they block the views from all sides.

So everyone here, please be really careful on the roads nowadays esp at night. Singapore is no longer safe like before. Sad.

After so many traffic light beating accidents, I am trying to caltivate habits of slowing down at traffic light junctions and always on the look out for vehicles that may ignore or try to beat red lights, particularly the moments after light turn green for my way.

The problem is if the lights are green way ahead of you and because of the hedges and plants, you cannot see what's coming from your right and left until the very last second. You cannot come to a stop or really slow down at a junction when lights are still green and with cars behind you right?

Yeah it is not right to slow down suddenly but gradual when approaching traffic light junction. My intention is to lessen impact or increase chance of avoiding at lower speed if accident has to happen.

They really should start patrolling on foot and not caught sleeping in the police cars. So many cases of sex for this and that committed by civil servants nowadays, wonder whether they are still doing their proper jobs. Lucky you and wife have a near miss, the insurance companies should just compensate the victims but not the estate of the red Ferrari driver to send a clear message across to these errant drivers.

The problem with this country is that every organisation, private and public, esp big ones, are cutting cost on labour while profits climb sharply but hardly compensate their staff enough. Those mid-lower level workers esp.in the civil service are seeing their workload doubled since the influx with their pay probably only increased very slightly while their bosses receive hefty rise in theirs, so these workers become bo-charp. Every month just collect pay and don't kay kiang.

Looks like we're heading the same way as Bolehland!

More to share, Just my concern of safety. I do not wish to be victim during my old age n my family. No intention to offence any residents in JB.

Crimes in Malaysia and in particular JB is high and all should look after themselves. But JB and malaysia are not likely to be in top 10 in the world. You could google for most dangerous cities in the world, top crime rate, homicide,... to get quite a few links and sources to see the real hard core crime cities and countries.

I think some care is due if one is to use the information. The data are user input and could be modified.

The web site says*

"Numbeo is the world’s largest database of user contributed data about cities and countries worldwid....

Numbeo is a collection of Web pages containing numerical and other itemizable data about cities and countries, designed to enable anyone to contribute or modify content. Numbeo uses the wisdom of the crowd to obtain the most reliable information possible....."

The web site only has about 2 years data 2012 - 2013

data updated on Q1 2012
JB Ranks 10th

data updated on Q1 2013
JB Ranks 4th

Latest weekly data updated on each Monday
JB Rank 25th
