Jailed for assaulting wife

<!-- end left side bar --> <!-- story content : start --> A POLICE officer who broke his wife's right second toe during one of his assaults over a nine-month period was packed off to jail for four months on Friday. Rohaizad Majnen, 40, a senior staff sergeant attached to MRT Unit/Special Operations Command, had earlier pleaded guilty to four charges of hurting Madam Salina Abdul Rahman, 37, at his Pasir Ris flat between October 2007 and mid-July last year. Three months into their marriage in October 2007, the victim confronted him about his alleged affair. He became agitated and proceeded to slap and punch her. In January last year, he accused her of stealing his gold chain, and when she denied, he kicked and punched her, causing her to suffer a broken second right toe. Two other assaults took place in February and July. Another three similar charges were taken into consideration during his sentencing. The couple are now living apart and going through divorce proceedings.
