HK char siew the best. Beats Malaysia and Sg hands down. Malaysia char siew much better than Sg though, on the average. Just look a the dry anaemic slices that come with your typical won ton mee at the hawker centre.

Yes, char siew came from GZ. And the best Canto food now comes from the trinity of GZ, Foshan and Shunde (where all the top chefs hail from).

Very rare to find good char siew in Singapore. I've only tasted the one from Fei Fei in Yuhua that passes muster:

Char siew by itself is also subjective as to what's the best...the old school type actually dosent come with that much bbq sweet sauce...also have to see what it is paired with or part of
