She was abused at home for months, maybe even years: her mother is said to have even burned her with an iron, her brother not only beat her but even went so far as to hit her with a glass. An affair that has now led to a sentence of three years for the older brother and four months for the mother: the sister-in-law was also on trial, but was acquitted.

This is the verdict of the court of Brescia (Italy) in a case of ill-treatment and assault initiated following a complaint (2019) by a young girl of Pakistani origin, who was only 15 at the time.

The girl, who was harassed by her Islamic relatives, is said to have run away from home several times before reporting the incidents. She was later placed in a sheltered community and even attempted suicide in the family home. According to the public prosecutor, represented by public prosecutor Donato Greco, the abuse lasted for months. However, this has always been denied by family members, although the judges eventually acknowledged their responsibility.
