Isetan Singapore has closed its outlet at Nex mall in Serangoon on Apr. 26, 2026.

It had been operating there for 15 years.

A video on Sunday captured the farewell.

Isetan staff said and waved goodbye to customers as the store lowered the shutters for the last time.

A Facebook post on Apr. 27 confirmed the closure.

It read:

"As we come to a close of our journey at Isetan Serangoon Central, we would like to express our heartfelt thanks and support over the past 15 years."

"We look forward to welcoming you at Isetan Scotts."
Prior to the closure, it held a clearance sale from Apr. 17 to 26.

Isetan Scotts is the remaining outlet.

Video of farewell

A video showed the Isetan store manager bidding farewell to the public.

She thanked customers for their support and wished them good health and happiness.

Isetan in Havelock made history in 1972 as the first Japanese department store in Singapore.

The flagship store at Havelock was relocated in 1993 to Isetan Scotts, which opened at Shaw House.

Isetan has been closing stores over the years.

Isetan Katong at Parkway Parade closed in March 2022.

Isetan Jurong at Westgate Mall was shuttered in March 2020.

get to know Isetan through their pastry shop selling red bean bun(new bun introduced to the public at that time) half century ago at Plaza Singapura

Plaza Singapura was Yaohan lah, not Isetan. Don't think Isetan was ever there.
Unless you are are saying that the pastry shop was operated by Isetan? I didn't know about that

Mine mistake

Retail stores are closing down one by one until they eventually disappear from the scene totally.

The shopping will be invaded with the likes of China shopping platform like Lazada, Shopee, Taobao and hope people continue to support Amazon so can
have more platforms and variety to shop.

Sinkie used to be shopping haven but neighbouring countries have caught up. Same as hong kong. Hence hong kong and sinkie suffer same problem.

The next big Japanese retail to close I suspect is Kinokuniya bookstore. The Bugis outlet had been downsized and now occupy a very small floor area in Bugis Junction. Same goes for the flagship at Taka - downsized too.
