Re: Is this legal in Singapore?are you a fan of SS like me?I like their uniform but..

huh?are you sure Hugo Boss designed Nazis military uniform???Wow....please provide evidence before you say!!!

Was reported in the news some time ago:

Hugo Boss Acknowledges Link to Nazi Regime
Published: August 15, 1997

Before Hugo Boss A.G. became known for classic men's suits and flashy ties, the clothing manufacturer made uniforms for the Nazis, a company spokeswoman acknowledged today.

The company said it had become aware of the dealings with the Nazis after the name of its founder, Hugo Boss, who died in 1948, appeared on a list of dormant accounts released by Swiss bankers last month.

''Right now we are trying to get a handle on the situation,'' a spokeswoman for Boss, Monika Steilen, said. ''This is a very new theme for us. We have nothing in our archives.''

Ms. Steilen said the company had not determined what kind of account Mr. Boss might have had in Switzerland. She added that Hugo Boss was considering hiring a historian to look into its past, something that other concerns, including the Allianz insurance company and the German railroad, have done.

In the 1930's, when the company began making Nazi uniforms, it was a family-run business that manufactured police and postal uniforms.

The Nazis awarded contracts to thousands of companies to produce the black uniforms, worn by SS units, the brown shirts worn by SA storm troopers and the black-and-brown uniforms of the Hitler Youth, according to Eckhard Trox, a military uniform expert at the museum in Ludenscheid.

''Of course my father belonged to the Nazi Party,'' Siegfried Boss, 83, said in the latest issue of the Austrian news weekly Profil. ''But who didn't belong back then? The whole industry worked for the Nazi Army.''

Hugo Boss founded the textile factory in 1923, Ms. Steilen said. He joined the Nazi Party in 1931, and two years later, began manufacturing Nazi uniforms. Production continued throughout the war, and according to Profil, the company brought forced laborers from Poland and France to its factory to increase output in the later years.

After Hugo Boss's death, the factory returned to making uniforms for postal and police workers. It produced its first men's suits in the 1950's, but did not focus exclusively on men's fashion until the early 1970's.

A majority of the company stock was sold to the Italian group Marzotto in 1993.

Re: Is this legal in Singapore?are you a fan of SS like me?I like their uniform but..

This guy caused an uproad in China and worldwide.Haaa....people scolded him for being a Nazis. What you guys think???

I realised from colleagues that Nazi sensitivities are still present in Europe. Only the british openly joke about it - making tv shows like Allo Allo. But for the rest of western europeans, their WW2 history is nothing they want to mention at the dinner table. I made a terrible mistake of joking about aryan race to a dutch colleague many years ago

So I think the SS cosplay uniform and heil hitler salute is only offensive to westerners. It's just like it angmors pose in uniforms like these in wedding photos... Wouldn't our sensibilities be offended?

Re: Is this legal in Singapore?are you a fan of SS like me?I like their uniform but..

The fascist movement is still running rampant in Europe...lotsa Nazis escaped to south America n to our surprise, u can find alot more staying in those cantons of Switzerland. Thousands of German POWs were also sent to the States toiling the cotton fields n steel mills after the war...hahaha! Anyway, it's gd for their souls....some so-called Nazis were just victims of circumstances, can't really blame them as I learnt fr one who's 90plus year-old living in Sydney....

Re: Is this legal in Singapore?are you a fan of SS like me?I like their uniform but..

It's good that you made a distinction between the German people (and professional institutions like the army) and the NAZIS. In time to come, we need to ask our descendants to differentiate between Singaporeans and the PAPzis.

To add on, you will note that the helmets worn by Chinese troops in the 1930s and 1940s were identical to the German ones (with ear covering). They also used some German weaponry, including the Luger).

In the 1930s, germany provide arms and advisers to the KMT. German trained KMT divisions were chiang best troops and were mostly held under strategic reserves that only chiang can issue orders. Most of the fighting against the IJA were mostly second line troops of the warlords who were affliated to the KMT.

Re: Is this legal in Singapore?are you a fan of SS like me?I like their uniform but..

whatever Nazis crimes against the Jews and Europe, the Germans were friends of the Chinese back then. The German govt helped to develop and modernize China in the 1930s, resulting in the relatively success of the Nanking decade. During the war of resistance against Japan, Germany was the first country to provide any financial aid ( 150 millions German marks ) to the Chinese government, 50 millions in barter and 100 millions was written off before 1941. The Chinese German military advisers headed by Alexander von Falkenhausen devised China war of attrition strategy against Japan which eventually proved to be the right choice.

dont u find it irony that the russians use the same tactics against the germans that the germans advise the chinese on how to fight against the japs.

The battle of Tai Er Zhuang aka battle of Xu Zhou was planned by the germans which cause the first major defeat by the IJA during the sino-jap war. As a result, the foreign minister of jap complain to the german govt who was suppose to the an ally of the Axis. So the germans advisers were withdraw after this battle.

Just look at the kmt army behave will see a lot of the german upper class nonsense. The officers behave like big fark while the life of pengkia are cheap. While kmt later were heavily influence by the american but many of nonsense still remain. Just look at kmt aka taiwanese marching contingents for their independence day celebration, can see not much different from the goose step.

now that you mentioned it, I have a friend in melbourne whose step-grandfather (complicated family) was a yugoslav who joined the Nazi youth. after the war he ran away to australia. He brought along his Nazi youth knife. One day, fearing he would be discovered, he ran off to the country and buried the knife.

For years my friend and her older brother keeps asking their step-grandfather to tell them where the hiding spot was. It would definitely be sort after by collectors (I would love to own one!) unfortunately he can't remember anymore :(

U.S. forces sprayed an estimated 20 million gallons of herbicides, including Agent Orange, in Vietnam between 1962 and 1971 to deny food and jungle cover to the Vietnamese communists, but the chemical remained in the water and soil decades later. Agent Orange, named after the color of its containers, is blamed for nightmarish birth defects in Vietnam where babies appeared with two heads or without eyes or arms. U.S. veterans of the war have complained for years of a variety of health problems from exposure to the herbicide. Dioxin, the toxic compound in Agent Orange, has been shown to cause cancer, birth defects and organ dysfunction....

don't know that battle of TaiErZhuang was planned by the Germans.

interestingly, the Chinese army Soviet adviser General Vasily Chuikov in his memoirs would cite the battle of TaiErZhuang as inspiration for the fight he waged against the Germans 4 years later at Stalingrad.

xuzhou like stalingrad was a communication hub but the kmt fought a more fluid battle than the russian due to the lack of heavy weapons. The russian even outgunned the german in term of artillery pieces. The most efficient arms of the red army was its artillery component. If Hitler had not interfer and let the german general staff along, the result of WW2 would have been very different.

Tai er zhuang was the first war movie i saw in cinema. kmt even deploy its shock troops, the big sabre troops who get into close quarter fighting against terrified japs with only the sabre. the german doctrine appeal to chiang and model the kmt officers corp to the german. and the germans also help the kmt greatly, even allow the kmt to produce the superb mauser bolt action rifle and the world beater MG34. So there u have it, in terms of small arms, chinese equipments were much better than what the japanese were using yet the kmt troops suffer defeat after defeat against the IJA.

getting back to the thread, one must admit that the german uniforms were superbly design that make it appealing. The only other uniform that come close is the US marine corp dress uniform.
