If u prefer a compact camera, go for digital. If you want something better, go for DSLR.
You're talking through your hat.99% of all cameras sold today are "digital" and that includes DSLRs

bro sam, dun get so worked up! we all know you are expert in photography stuff. the model i mentioned is retailing at $399, i remember seeing canon ixus at $600+ last year. so i think that this may be a good buy.![]()
A good buy has nothing to do with the price. It's all about getting a camera that suits your needs.
A camera can cost $200 but if it can't do what you want, that's money down the drain.

I haven't even begun to talk about that yet.:p
One of my partners in crime loves cameras but doesn't like taking photos.
He owns a D3s which has only taken about 10 images since he bought it a year ago.
I was also looking for the ability to save in RAW format. Didn't use this capability useful at all, since I only take recreational photos![]()
I use RAW all the time.
